In fact, if you really want to annoy everyone in a 10 mile radius, you can connect up to 100 - yes, 100 - PL7s together at once in Multi-mode.
X BOOM SPEAKER PORTABLE
Just remember to turn off the pulsing light rings in this set up, though, unless you want to feel as if you’ve joined Sauron and Gollum at your local nightclub.Īs is now common with ‘party style’ portable speakers, you can also connect multiple PL7s wirelessly together, to deliver a much larger sound. For starters, it turns out you can connect two of them to a 2020 LG OLED, NanoCell or UHD TV via Bluetooth so that they become surround sound speakers. The illuminated ring at one end of the LG PL7 Photo: LGĭelving into the PL7’s features uncovers a surprisingly long list of tricks up its sleeve. The on-phone interface for all this in the XBoom app is attractively presented and reasonably intuitive - except, perhaps, for the process of tracking down the next track or album you want to play, unless you’ve already set up a queue.

Various status indicators along the top edge have their own cute little white and red pinprick status lights too, confirming that an active PL7 is much more fun than it looks when it’s switched off. There are options, too, to set up your own lighting ‘style’ based around a series of colur palettes, three speeds of color change, and the option to have the lights respond to the beat, or just change color at timed intervals. You can adjust the lighting effect via the LG XBoom app on your iTunes or Android device, with Party, Water, and Forest colour bases built in.
X BOOM SPEAKER DRIVERS
Switching the PL7 on reveals some hitherto unsuspected party spirit in its design too, as rings around the drivers at each end explode into bright, colorful life, pulsing away to the beat of whatever banger you cast the speaker’s way. The finish reflects the fact that the PL7 is water resistant up to the industry IPX5 standard, as well as giving it durability for people looking for a meaty speaker to cart around between different rooms of your house, or to parks or parties at friends’ houses.
